Also commonly known as Yekaterinburg, Ekaterinburg is one of the major Russian Cities, situated in the midst of the Ural Mountain ranges. The City is home to an estimated 1.5 million residents making it one of the most populous in the Russia.

Ekaterinburg is the administrative capital of the Sverdlovsk Region. Ekaterinburg was founded in 1723 by the Tsar Peter the Great and was named after the Tsar’s wife Ekaterina. Today the city is an important cultural and educational center for the region, being home to a number of Universities and specialist learning institutions.
